Paris 2024 Events confirmed at World Sailing Mid-Year Meeting

World Sailing's Council met for the first day of a two day meeting on Monday 14 May at World Sailing's Mid-Year Meeting in London, Great Britain.

Discussions on Paris 2024 Olympic Events, Para World Sailing Events and Formats, Sustainability Agenda 2030 and safety reporting were held.
Following a lengthy debate and decision making process, the Events for the Paris 2024 Olympic Games were confirmed.

Ahead of the meeting, it was announced that the following Events and their Equipment would remain unchanged.

Men's One Person Dinghy - Laser*
Women's One Person Dinghy - Laser Radial*
Women's Skiff - 49erFX
Men's Skiff - 49er
Mixed Two Person Multihull - Nacra 17
*subject to separate equipment re-evaluation

World Sailing's Council debated the remaining five Events at Paris 2024 and confirmed that the remaining five Events would be:

Men's Windsurfer
Women's Windsurfer
New Event, Mixed One-Person Dinghy
New Event, Mixed Two Person Dinghy
New Event, Mixed Kite

The 2018 World Sailing Development Symposium is organised in partnership with Yachting New Zealand, the World Sailing Member National Authority for New Zealand and OSAF.

AIMS AND OBJECTIVES OF THE DEVELOPMENT SYMPOSIUM :
The first Development Symposium was held in Ireland in 2012. The event was presented as a forum where all Member National Authorities (MNAs) could present and discuss areas of Training and Development and have an input into the overall strategy of World Sailing. Over the years, the Development Symposium has become much, much more. The last 4 events in South Africa, USA, Singapore and Argentina saw the structure of the event broaden into an interactive workshop, oriented around Learning, Sharing Networking and Planning, where by invited speakers and delegates themselves had far more opportunity to shape the program to suit their individual needs.

International delegates at this important event receive presentations from a number of Experts in a variety of sport specific disciplines as well as taking part in break-away sessions where they are encouraged to interact with other delegates, often from other Nations. The Development Symposium directly compliments the work of the Development and Regions Committee, with the report from each event helping World Sailing to gather valuable information on how its work can continue to develop, giving those delegates present from New or Emerging Nations, a much needed chance to have their voices heard.

This years Symposium will take place in the Oceania Region focusing on regional development and working together. Topics will delve into connect to sailing initiatives and involve interactive discussions around different initiatives in the regions.
